The Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports
The Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports was initially set up as the Department of Sports in 1982 at the time of organization of the IX Asian Games in New Delhi. Its name was changed to the Department of Youth affairs & sports during celebration of the International Youth Year, 1985.
The Ministry, in keeping with its aim of promoting excellence in various sporting disciplines is proud to support Shiva Keshavan’s 2010 Olympic campaign. The NSDF has contributed 10 lakhs towards Shiva’s boarding, lodging and equipment costs. An additional €9600 has been paid directly to Shiva’s coach – making this the first time that Shiva has received financial support for coaching.
